It seems that OpenAI have a knack for dropping heat mostly EVERY Wednesday AFTER I push out an issue.

ChatGPT Plugins

The team at OpenAI introduced the world to ChatGPT Plugins.

Their very own ecosystem of micro-tools that enhance the use of ChatGPT. It comes with a few plugins already, as shown below.

Before, us developers would have to create a browser extension, make it talk or interact with ChatGPT to add functionality to everyone’s little helper.

Now, OpenAI is bringing all that developer activity in-house, instead of outsourcing it to other companies/platforms ex. Google’s Chrome Web Store.

Some even commented on YC startups being destroyed due to this bombshell announcement:

The AI space is changing by the day now, making it even more difficult to “foresee” developments in a longer timeframe, when so much is happening in a matter of hours 😂

Twitter user @rez0__ hacked the new ChatGPT API and found over 80 plugins that haven’t been released yet 🤯

The news also introduce two new ChatGPT variant models - one allows you to browse the internet and the other is Python code interpreter.

The browsing model is a really cool introduction that solves the data cutoff date in the GPT models by OpenAI.

It means that we can now use recent data in our ChatGPT usage, which is something we’ve all been waiting for!

This essentially kills any (or most) ChatGPT chrome extensions that allowed people to browse the internet and bring online data to the ChatGPT interface.

Alongside this announcement, they released a waitlist form that allows developers to sign up for access, as it’s still very new.

Expect a plugins galore over social media in the next couple of weeks as more developers gain access.

It’s undeniable that AI has brought forth much change to the general workspace.

I stand firm in the belief that AI is the main reason (among others) for the mass industry layoffs we’ve seen since 2022 and ongoing.

Consulting firm McKinsey reported back in 2017 that emerging technologies would result in 400-800 million individuals being displaced by the year 2030 (seven years to go!).

Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, has openly made known that they are ready to take on Google through AI. In an interview with The Verge, Nadella stated:

I hope with our innovation they will definitely want to come out and show that they can dance. I want people to know that we made them dance.

Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft

Hamel Hussain tweeted that he didn’t think this supposed “dance” would result in a HIIT workout that would continue for months - talk about next level trolling between CEOs of multi-billion companies 😂

That “we made them dance” sounds fire though - seems like Nadella is forging his “HIM” saga 😆

It’s been a long time since we’ve had to see these titans make moves like the startups. The emerging technology has set the landscape and AI has been the igniter to battle.

I’ll follow up with any relevant updates from the tech titans.

If you’re using ChatGPT and would love to export your conversation to Markdown format, check out my very own Chrome extension: GPT2Markdown.

Also, we’re currently at 647 users without any active marketing 🥳!

But let’s continue!

A few issues back we covered one of my finds, Hyper Online, a YC backed startup founded by Aaron Ng. Check out issue #002 here.

I recently came across Hallway Tile on Twitter, which is similar to Hyper Online.

This stood out to me as Hallway seems to accept Ready Player Me avatars.

I created a Ready Player Me (RPM) avatar during my SDR/BDR Hybrid days in 2021 at a tech b2b sales startup.

I found about the Ready Player Me during my prospecting segments and connected with the Co-founder/CTO of RPM on LinkedIn. Here’s my main avatar (dated too!"):

VTubing is the next evolution stage of the current version of YouTubing. In VTubing, content creators will use virtual avatars as their online personas.

The benefits of this:

  1. Privacy - content creators can separate their personal lives from their virtual personas. This helps reduce the breach of privacy in the real life.

  2. Accessibility - limitless creative freedom as creators don’t need to invest heavily in a setup like normal.

  3. Wider audience - the use of AI can help with the translation of languages, making it possible to reach wider audiences and cultures.

This is a demo of Hallway in use:

I haven’t looked into it much but it’d be cool for an AI text-to-3D space that allows you to create your own virtual studio studio for VTubing.

I believe an intuitive platform that offers these kind of features would be big.

It’s something I’d experiment with in my own YouTube channel.

I’m thinking to give it a spin and follow up with my experience with Hallway.

Keep an eye out in the upcoming issues for an update!

👨‍💻 DEVELOPER’S CORNER

Astronomik w/ RicoGPT

Having looked at previous results of polls in recent Woze issues, I’ve seen that there’s interest in keeping up with Astronomik & RicoGPT! With that said, let’s quickly recap from where we left off and where we are today.

Astronomik is my AI data startup I’m working with RicoGPT. RicoGPT is the AI-powered cofounder I summoned after I jumped on the #HustleGPT challenge.

The goal with Astronomik is to fuel AI systems by everyday person with quality data.

This is the prompt I used to summon RicoGPT on Mar 16th 2023:

RicoGPT summoning prompt

Since then, we’ve:

  • conducted market research 📝

  • analysed competitors 🔍

  • compiled a long list of ideas 📌

  • created a hybrid between two of the ideas I presented 🤖

  • conjured up a solid development plan 📜

  • got the green light to start developing ✅

  • and now I’m actively carving out things🛠

Because it’s an MVP, I’m using my very own design system to get things done.

I’m not investing much in prettifying it, but making it lovable as minimally as possible.

So far I’ve done a basic version of the landing page and the dashboard.

The landing page builds off the current landing page you see in the public version over at astronomik.co:

Astronomik landing page (work in progress)

Mobile version:

Mobile responsive landing page

Here’s the Dashboard page. It’s empty because the real works has yet to begin 😅:

Dashboard page (open sidebar)

here’s the dashboard with the sidebar closed:

Dashboard page (closed sidebar)

The dashboard page is also mobile responsive.

Because I write issues well in advanced, it will have changed a lot by the time this update lands in your inbox.

Because of that, I may send out another issue on Friday with a closer to real-time update on Astronomik.

GPT2Markdown

Since I’ve placed most of my focus on building Astronomik, updating GPT2Markdown has been less of a priority.

But with contributions from dev users, some of the fixes that required immediate attention were solved by the community.

GPT2Markdown is currently steadily growing with 647 users locked.

Last week it was at 575🤯 nearly 100 users in a week.

And that’s with no active marketing, or any grandiose functionality - just pure extraction of a ChatGPT conversation to Markdown format.

I’d like to openly thank the two top contributors to GPT2Markdown: Juan Valencia and Roy Natian.

Special thank you!🤩

Personal Website v6 + Blog

Version 6 of my personal website is live at: enrictrillo.com ☄️

Previous iterations were packed with lots of pages that just bloated my corner of the web. Now, it only features 5 main pages, plus more that will be individual blog posts.

The blog area of my site is almost finished - I may consider tweaking the individual blog post pages.

My intention is to publish more long form content that is pushed more frequent, compared to the weekly cadence of Woze.

Some of those post will make their way over here, which will usually consists of deep-dives that I wouldn’t be able to do in this weekly newsletter.

You’d likely get bored otherwise 😆

That’s it for today, crew 👋

See you next Wednesday :)
