1. Woze & ETG Introduction ✍️

The first issue of Woze - I'm so pumped! 🔥

I've been dragging my feet for the past few months when it comes to Woze (prev. named 0xBits with 0xreeko).

I've combed through so much content on writing & content creation since Nov 2022.

I've learnt a lot from creators like: Justin Welsh, Matt Gray, the Ship30for30 duo and Dan Koe (bought one his courses) - I couldn't simply let the month of January end without at least sending my first email.

No way.

But, let's break el hielo 🧊

If you don't know me, I'm Enric aka @EmergingTechGuy on Twitter. I've been a digital developer for the past 8+ years, with experience in helping businesses establish their web and digital identity.

I've operated across domains like: graphic design, UI/UX and motion design, video editing and more, and Web3 for the past two years.

I fully pivoted to the one-person business model (explained here by Dan Koe) in Feb 2022.

Now, I'm on a mission to generate $840K in revenue through my products & services.

I've got some 20+ or so exciting projects in my notepad. I'm finalising my website (see enrictrillo.com/test) then I'll kickstart the development process.

I plan to share the BTS of my projects with you, since you've decided to join me on this ride into the new digital frontier.

I tweet about emerging technology, sales (since I was a SDR/BDR hybrid at a tech B2B sales biz in 2021) and one-person businesses.

2. The $10,000,000,000 tide 🤑

The latest tide in the emerging technologies has seen the colossal titan, Microsoft, seal a partnership with OpenAI, the team behind popular "GPT" LLM models, and the hottest product in the last 5 years, ChatGPT.

This multi-year and multi-billion dollar move will see Microsoft and OpenAI work together, as they collaborate to drive growth and innovation in the AI realm.

Prior to this, it's alleged that Google entered "Code Red"🔴 as ChatGPT poses a threat to Google - it soared to 1 million users in just 5 days.

And it's understandable, since Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin were called in to help address this GPT threat.

This has definitely knocked the 🔔 for many companies across the globe.

We're about to see massive tides 🌊 across the entire spectrum that will cause world-shifting impact.

It'll be interesting to see how these moves play out over the coming weeks and months.

I'll be updating you as the ripples keep on forming 🫡

3. $250K-335K bounty for tech-savvy writers 💰

What?!

Yep, this is the real deal in the new digital world.

Anthropic, an AI company, posted this live role on LinkedIn that can also be seen on their website.

You can check it out for yourself over here.

The salary range for this role is between $250K to $335K 🤑.

A prompt engineer is someone specialised in prompt engineering. You can look at prompt engineering as the "coding" or "querying" of machine learning models.

I'd recommend you to try ChatGPT, but they've reached max capacity and they're not accepting any signups as they're working on scaling their infrastructure.

4. The Great Displacement ⚡️

Moving on.

Is The Great Displacement in motion?

FYI I named the ongoing mass layoffs, the "The Great Displacement", in this Twitter thread.

In 2022, we saw the huge layoffs across the board.

Now, at the very top of 2023, it seems like we'll be seeing a continuation throughout the year.

Most think it's because of the economy.

While true in some regard, I believe that's just the mask.

But, the true reason? The rise of emerging technologies like AI and automation.

I don't think it should come as a surprise.

Employers are realising that they can now operate at the same level with LESS staff, and generate MORE through automation and other technologies.

A 2017 report by McKinsey prints that 400-800 million individuals could be displaced by emerging technologies, by the year 2023 (seven years to go!).

On the same note, the same report also mentions how these very same technologies will create some 375 million or so jobs.

This means more workforce crunches✂️ to come, like we've seen in the past year.

There's been talk about how tools like ChatGPT and MidJourney will replace copywriters and artists respectively.

I mean, (digital) artists revolted against #AIart last month.

Imagine your years (decades even!) of effort into your craft being replicated by a digital "entity" in the mere matter of seconds, if not hours...

I like this quote by Naval on Twitter last month.

"AI will replace the people who think it will."

Naval Ravikant

If you believe a digital "entity" will replace creativity and other "human" aspects, you're sadly mistaken.

But I do agree it will replace many though - it's one of the reasons why I've gone with the one-person business model, since I can just automate roles through code 🤷‍♂️

The way I view The Great Displacement, depending on how it's handled and how people operate, I believe it'll be a game of musical chairs with a rush to re-skill the masses to adapt to the nouveau way of doing things.

Especially when many are not as tech-savvy. But, we'll have to see.

And with technology bridging geographies and markets through remote working, competition will likely bubble 🫧 to never-seen-before levels.

This is why I've started this newsletter, Woze, to equip you with the education and actionable insights to take matters into your own hands, and not become a digital novice.

Maybe you want to boost your value in your career to remain competitive and not become a replaceable commodity.

Or maybe you have business ideas for this new digital frontier, like me, and you want to learn about ways to use emerging technologies to future-proof your venture.

I'll be creating digital products around this from guides to ebooks, to even playbooks of business ideas that use emerging tech in emerging markets👀 Hints: 🍃, 🧱

Developer's Corner

Just yesterday, I launched a chrome extension currently named "GPT2Markdown" that I built over the weekend. It allows you export your ChatGPT conversations to Markdown format.

I say "currently" because one my helpful users gave me valuable feedback and pointed out that others may confuse this extension with being directed to GPT-2 instead of ChatGPT. This means that I'll likely implement the rename change in the coming days.

I've noted all the feature requests and feedback and will be implementing it.

If you haven't head of ChatGPT, where have you been?! ChatGPT is the most talked AI product by Open AI. I call it the most talked about "virtual assistant" in town.

Check it out on Product Hunt:

That's it for today, crew 👋

See you next Wednesday :)

Enric (EmergingTechGuy)

P.S. To continue bringing focused value, I have a few questions - Who are you? What do you do? Do you have any questions in relation to emerging technologies?

📬 How did you find today's newsletter issue? Let me know what could be improved by replying with feedback as I read all/most emails.
